Silent Form

About artwork

“Silent Form” explores the relationship between solid material and empty space through two closely positioned organic volumes carved from pale stone. The narrow opening between the forms becomes as important as the material itself, changing in appearance as the work is viewed from different angles. Rossi leaves parts of the surface visibly worked while polishing others to a softer finish, allowing traces of the sculpting process to remain present. The contrast between weight, curvature and negative space gives the work a quiet sense of tension and balance. Size: 70 × 38 × 30 cm
